Running back Breece Hall and three other offensive starters have been ruled out for the New York Jets' Sunday game against the Chicago Bears.
ESPN's Rich Cimini reports that the New York Jets (1-2) will be without four offensive starters for Sunday's road game against the 2-1 Chicago Bears. Running back Breece Hall (quadriceps), wide receiver Adonai Mitchell (finger), tight end Mason Taylor (thumb), and left guard Dylan Parham (knee) were ruled out on Friday after none of the four players practiced during the week. Hall and Parham sustained their injuries during a 31-24 loss to the Detroit Lions last week.
Braelon Allen is set to replace Hall in the backfield. Allen, who has 19 carries for 61 yards and one touchdown this season, has never recorded more than 12 rushes in a single NFL game. The Jets also expect third-year backup Isaiah Davis to see his first career offensive snaps. The rushing attack has struggled recently, producing only 125 total yards over the last two games.
Jordan Meredith will start at left guard for Parham, while Isaiah Williams is slated to replace Mitchell in the starting lineup. Sterling Shepard will be elevated from the practice squad to serve as the No. 3 receiver, filling a depth chart currently missing Omar Cooper Jr., Tim Patrick, and Arian Smith, who are all on injured reserve. At tight end, rookie Kenyon Sadiq will see an expanded role following a seven-catch, 105-yard performance in Detroit.
Defensively, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick will return to the lineup after missing two games with a groin injury. The Jets expect to have 10 of 11 defensive starters available, with defensive tackle David Onyemata remaining the only absence as he resides on injured reserve.
