This marks the eighth time in nine years that Milwaukee has qualified for the postseason.

Jacob Misiorowski (15-5) earned the win, striking out seven batters across five shutout innings while lowering his MLB-best ERA to 1.89. The right-hander threw 82 pitches, 43 of which reached or exceeded 100 mph, and surrendered five hits. Offensively, Luis Lara and Joey Ortiz each recorded two RBIs. The Brewers took an early lead in the first inning when Jake Bauers singled, advanced on a groundout and a wild pitch, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lara.

Pittsburgh starter Lake Bachar (1-4) took the loss. The Pirates' lone run came via a solo home run by Brandon Lowe, his 30th of the season, which tied a franchise record of 171 team homers set in 1999. Rafael Flores Jr. finished with four hits for Pittsburgh as the club fell to a 75-76 record. The game took place on a day the Pirates honored Roberto Clemente by wearing his No. 21 jersey.
