Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to start Game 1 of the World Series on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at American Family Field. The 24-year-old led Major League Baseball this season with a 1.80 ERA and recorded 252 strikeouts across 174⅔ innings. He limited opponents to a .157/.224/.246 slash line and is the expected recipient of the National League Cy Young Award.
Misiorowski set a record for qualified starting pitchers with an average fastball velocity of 100.5 mph, which has increased to 101 mph during the current postseason. He threw at least 104 mph on 22 occasions during the regular season. The 6-foot-7 pitcher also possesses the highest extension in the league, releasing the ball one foot closer to home plate than the average MLB pitcher.
Following a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, the Brewers enter their first World Series in 44 years. Misiorowski will face a Tampa Bay Rays lineup that has struggled against high velocity. Rookie right-hander Logan Henderson is expected to start Game 2 for Milwaukee.
During his offseason preparation in Kansas City, Misiorowski threw bullpen sessions to his fiancée, Elle Nicas, a former high school softball catcher. His development this year followed a 2025 debut season characterized by inconsistent performance. In addition to his fastball, Misiorowski utilizes a slider and elite spin rates to navigate opposing lineups.
