Broncos Suffer 31-10 Loss to Chiefs Amid Turnover Struggles

The Denver Broncos lost their season opener 31-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night. The Denver defense surrendered 200 rushing yards and missed 19 tackles, while the offense was limited to 176 net yards. Quarterback Bo Nix completed a rocky performance by fumbling three times, losing one, and throwing an interception on his first pass of the game. He was also sacked a career-high four times.

Denver struggled on situational downs, finishing 2-of-12 on third-down attempts and failing to convert a single third down in the second half. This result marks an 0-3 career record for Nix in Week 1 starts over three seasons, a span in which he has thrown five interceptions and been sacked eight times. Offensive coordinator Davis Webb made his regular-season debut as the team's playcaller during the defeat.

Head coach Sean Payton noted that errors were widespread, stating there was "dirt on a ton of people's hands." The Broncos now prepare for a Sunday home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on a short week. Jacksonville enters the matchup following a 34-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Last season, the Jaguars finished second in the NFL with 31 takeaways and were the only team to defeat the Broncos at home during the 2025 regular season.
