The All-Star first baseman, who celebrated his 37th birthday on the day of his return, had missed the previous two contests due to a right knee issue. He last appeared as a designated hitter during Tuesday's 3-2 win over Cincinnati, filling in for Shohei Ohtani while the latter managed biceps and knee injuries.

Manager Dave Roberts indicated the club will monitor Freeman's health over the final 15 games of the regular season to ensure he reaches the postseason at optimal health. The Dodgers currently lead the NL West and possess the opportunity to clinch a playoff berth on Saturday with a victory combined with losses by both the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks. Roberts noted that Freeman may receive additional days off down the stretch to aid his recovery.

In other roster news, Miguel Rojas is scheduled to start on Sunday in what may be his final game in Miami. The veteran infielder, who plans to retire following the conclusion of this season, spent eight years of his 13-year career with the Marlins. Rojas is currently batting .271 with 54 hits and three home runs through 94 games in his second stint with Los Angeles.
