Jaxson Dart exited Monday night's 28-6 loss to the Rams after a hard hit to his left knee during the opening series.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is believed to have sustained a sprained MCL during a 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. The injury occurred on a third-and-8 play during the team's opening series when Rams linebacker Byron Young hit Dart from the right, driving him into linebacker Josaiah Stewart. While initial X-rays were negative, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo report that Dart is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday and is expected to miss time.

Following the exit of the second-year starter, Jameis Winston took over at quarterback, completing 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and one interception. Although Dart attempted to return to the game during the first half, the Giants medical staff denied the request. He was officially ruled out early in the third quarter and later appeared on the sideline in street clothes. Head coach John Harbaugh noted that while the injury is significant, it is not expected to be a season-ending event.

Several other Giants players also sustained injuries during the contest. Wide receiver Malik Nabers briefly exited with a right shoulder injury in the second quarter but returned to finish with one catch for one yard. Left tackle Andrew Thomas left in the fourth quarter due to a groin injury, and outside linebacker Brian Burns exited the stadium in a walking boot after suffering a low ankle sprain in the final minutes. Harbaugh indicated that none of these additional injuries are currently expected to be long-term issues.
