The Giants finished with 165 rushing yards on 37 carries and held possession for over 21 minutes during the second half. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott completed 22-of-34 passes for 175 yards and threw one interception to safety Javon Holland.

A pivotal sequence occurred late in the second quarter when Holland’s interception led to a Jaxson Dart touchdown pass to tight end Isaiah Likely, giving New York the lead. The Cowboys, who featured eight new defensive starters, struggled with communication as Likely scored uncovered. In the fourth quarter, Dallas running back Javonte Williams scored to bring the Cowboys within one possession, but a 15-yard taunting penalty on the play forced a longer extra-point attempt.
