The two-time All-Star dominated five innings of work, fanning 12 of the first 13 Colorado hitters and retiring 14 consecutive batters to start the game. Misiorowski threw 83 total pitches, allowing just one run on one hit—a two-out home run by Cole Carrigg in the fifth inning—before exiting with a 4-1 lead. This performance secured a series win for Milwaukee, who took two of three games against Colorado.

Misiorowski’s velocity reached historic levels as he threw 66 pitches at 100 mph or faster, breaking his own previous franchise mark of 58 set on June 12. His fastball topped out at 104.7 mph during the outing. Most notably, the right-hander delivered 33 fastballs clocked at 103 mph or higher, more than doubling the previous MLB single-game record for such pitches since tracking began. Misiorowski previously shared that record with himself, having recorded 14 pitches of at least 103 mph in two separate starts earlier this season.

Breaking Franchise Strikeout Milestones

The previous Brewers record for consecutive strikeouts to begin a game was six, established on Sept. 18 of last year by Quinn Priester during a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Misiorowski surpassed that mark in the third inning after striking out Jake McCarthy, Mickey Moniak, and Hunter Goodman in the first, followed by TJ Rumfield, Kyle Karros, and Carrigg in the second. He secured the record by fanning Willi Castro to lead off the third. The streak concluded when Troy Johnston flew out to center fielder Luis Lara for the first out of the third inning.

Despite the record-setting start, Misiorowski finished three strikeouts shy of the overall MLB and Brewers record for consecutive strikeouts at any point in a game. That mark of 10 is held by Corbin Burnes, who achieved it against the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 11, 2021. Other pitchers with 10 straight strikeouts include Tom Seaver for the New York Mets in 1970 and Aaron Nola for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2021. The major league record for consecutive strikeouts specifically to start a game remains with Pablo Lopez, who fanned nine straight for the Miami Marlins in 2021.

Velocity and Mechanics Drive Dominance

Manager Pat Murphy noted that punching out 12 of 13 batters was exceptionally impressive, highlighting Misiorowski’s extension, fastball command, and secondary offerings. The pitcher attributed his increased velocity and control to better use of his lower half, stating that he felt he got to his legs more effectively than in his previous start. In that prior outing, Misiorowski struck out six batters over four innings during an 8-3 win against the New York Mets.

Misiorowski’s fourth inning featured a second wave of dominance as he struck out the side for a second time, fanning McCarthy, Moniak, and Goodman in succession. This followed a swinging strikeout by Edouard Julien to end the third frame. The final strikeout of the first inning was recorded when Goodman swung through a 104.3 mph fastball. By the time he left the mound after five frames, the Brewers had established a three-run cushion that eventually expanded into a nine-run margin of victory.
