Maye also lost two fumbles, one of which occurred inside the Jacksonville 5-yard line. The Patriots offense played without wide receiver A.J. Brown, who is sidelined with a high-ankle sprain, and right guard Mike Onwenu, who suffered a fractured ankle.

According to Bill Barnwell of ESPN, the Patriots have struggled with efficiency since their Week 1 loss to Seattle. Maye has recorded six interceptions through three games in 2026, compared to eight interceptions across nine games against top-15 defenses in 2025. Against Jacksonville, Mack Hollins received a taunting penalty following a 9-yard catch on third-and-10 while the team trailed 28-3 in the fourth quarter. The Patriots, now facing a 3-0 Buffalo Bills team next, are currently calling designed runs on 57% of first-down plays.

In other Week 3 action, the Buffalo Bills defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 24-16. Despite the Chargers forcing five turnovers and safety Genesis Smith recording two interceptions, Los Angeles fell to 0-3. Justin Herbert finished 20-of-34 for 226 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Washington Commanders upset the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks 33-31, ending Seattle's 12-game winning streak. The Seahawks played without injured safeties, while Washington won despite the absence of Jayden Daniels, Laremy Tunsil, and Sam Cosmi.
