Quarterback Jayden Daniels participated in footwork drills and snaps on Thursday while wearing a brace to protect his dislocated left elbow.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was a limited participant in practice on Thursday for the second consecutive day at a resort in Hertfordshire, England. Daniels is recovering from a dislocated left elbow sustained during a Week 2 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. While he is taking his status "day by day" for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts (1-2), Marcus Mariota is prepared to make his second straight start if Daniels is unavailable.

Daniels will wear a specialized brace designed to keep his non-throwing arm slightly bent to prevent a third dislocation. The quarterback previously suffered the same injury in Week 9 of last season and aggravated it five weeks later against the Minnesota Vikings, leading to a season-ending shutdown. Despite visiting specialists in New York and Los Angeles, Daniels opted against immediate surgery, noting that the brace is intended to mitigate reinjury risks.

During the portion of practice open to the media, Daniels performed handoffs, took snaps from under center, and completed footwork drills. He stated the protective equipment does not alter his throwing motion, as he naturally keeps his left elbow tucked to his side. The injury occurred on the final play of the first half in Week 2 when a lineman stepped on his foot, causing a stumble that forced Daniels to brace himself with his left arm. If he plays Sunday or the following week against the New York Giants, he will have returned faster than he did following his initial dislocation.
