Jerry Jones Cites 'No Explanation' for Coaching Gaffes in Loss to Ravens

The Dallas Cowboys fell to 1-2 following a 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, a result owner Jerry Jones attributed to late-game management errors by his coaching staff. Trailing 31-28 with 23 seconds remaining, Dallas held a first down at the Baltimore 2-yard line. Following a Dak Prescott incompletion and a false-start penalty on tight end Luke Schoonmaker, Prescott scrambled to the 5-yard line. Head coach and playcaller Brian Schottenheimer used his final timeout with 14 seconds left, instructing Prescott to target George Pickens or throw the ball away. Prescott opted for the throwaway on a play that lasted four seconds.

After Brandon Aubrey converted a game-tying field goal, seven seconds remained on the clock. The Dallas defense, led by first-year coordinator Christian Parker, allowed Lamar Jackson to complete a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers. The Ravens called a timeout with one second left, allowing Tyler Loop to secure the win with a 56-yard field goal. Jones stated on his Tuesday radio show that there is "no explanation" for leaving enough time for Baltimore to reach field goal range.

Despite the loss, Dallas remains one game behind the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants (2-1) in the NFC East. The Eagles lost their Monday night matchup to the Chicago Bears, while the Giants will proceed without quarterback Jaxson Dart due to a season-ending knee injury. The Cowboys are scheduled to face the 0-3 Houston Texans this Sunday.
