Josh Allen Leads Bills to 36-31 Victory Over Texans in Joe Brady’s Coaching Debut

Josh Allen recorded two passing and two rushing touchdowns to lead Buffalo to a 36-31 win against Houston on Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Houston Texans 36-31 on Sunday at Reliant Stadium, securing Joe Brady’s first victory as head coach. Josh Allen completed 11 of 15 passes traveling at least 10 air yards for 286 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning 34-yard strike to Joshua Palmer. Buffalo averaged 7.9 yards per play, totaling 409 yards of offense on just 52 plays. The win marked the franchise's first victory in Houston since 2006.

Allen made NFL history during the contest, becoming the first player to reach 300 career touchdowns within his first nine seasons. He finished the game with two passing touchdowns and two rushing scores, marking his ninth career game with that specific stat line. With 18 career games featuring multiple rushing touchdowns, Allen moved into a tie for 20th on the all-time rushing touchdowns list alongside Frank Gore and Ottis Anderson.

Buffalo’s offensive line allowed only two sacks after giving up eight to the Texans in their previous meeting last November. The Bills utilized three tight ends on 40.4% of their snaps to provide pocket protection. This efficiency allowed Dalton Kincaid to record 130 receiving yards on five catches, while D.J. Moore added 100 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. It was the first time two Bills players surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark in the same game since Week 5 of the 2023 season.

Following this road win, the Bills are scheduled to host the Detroit Lions on Thursday night for the opening of their new stadium.
