Manchester United defeated AS Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford on Tuesday, overcoming a two-goal deficit to secure their third victory of the season. The visitors took an early lead when Matìas Soulè scored in the 11th minute, followed by a Donyell Malen penalty in the 18th minute. United began their comeback through a Bruno Fernandes spot kick before Matheus Cunha scored twice late in the second half to seal the win. Cunha received a yellow card for his celebration following the winning goal.
The match was preceded by a preplanned protest against the club's ownership, which included fans throwing tennis balls from the Stretford End and releasing green and gold balloons onto the pitch. The demonstration, timed for the 21st minute to signify 21 years of Glazer family ownership, caused a brief delay before players cleared the items. Supporters also directed criticism toward minority owner Jim Ratcliffe following recent ticket price increases and the club's 17th-place standing in the Premier League.
Manager Michael Carrick entered the fixture on the back of three consecutive defeats and a nine-game winless streak. The result represents United's first Champions League comeback from two goals down since October 2021. The team now prepares to face Aston Villa on Sunday prior to the international break.
