Head coach Michael Carrick led a training session at 11 a.m. Tuesday as Manchester United prepares for Saturday's trip to Stamford Bridge.
Michael Carrick arrived at Carrington before 8 a.m. on Tuesday to lead an 11 a.m. training session and now expects to manage Manchester United against Chelsea this Saturday. According to ESPN, the 45-year-old remains under pressure following a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth that left the club 16th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone. United has secured only one league victory this season, a win against Ipswich in August.
CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox held talks at the training ground on Monday following the loss to Bournemouth. During that match, Carrick left captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench as a "pure football" decision, and the 32-year-old midfielder did not play a minute. Sources told ESPN that while fans booed the players at the final whistle, Carrick received significant support from the crowd during the defeat.
United is currently enduring an eight-game winless streak, marking the club's worst-ever start to a Premier League season. Despite the hierarchy exploring potential replacements such as Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann, and Antonio Conte, Carrick is anticipated to be in the dugout at Stamford Bridge. Following the Chelsea fixture, United faces home matches against AS Roma and Aston Villa before traveling to Anfield to play Liverpool on Nov. 22.
