Myles Garrett Facing Six-Week Recovery Timeline Following Knee Surgery

Myles Garrett was given a six-week recovery timeline from knee surgery, meaning the star pass rusher might not return to the Rams lineup until early November.

Los Angeles Rams pass rusher Myles Garrett is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks following knee surgery, sources told NFL Network. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year was placed on injured reserve earlier this month after playing through a season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia. While Garrett is eligible to return in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 18, the current recovery estimate suggests he could miss additional matchups against the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers.

The Rams acquired Garrett from the Cleveland Browns earlier this year in exchange for pass rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks, including a 2027 first-round selection. Last season, the five-time All-Pro set an NFL single-season record with 23 sacks. The recent arthroscopic procedure was intended to address swelling and discomfort in his knee, an issue that caused him to miss the majority of training camp. Coach Sean McVay characterized the defender as a fast healer but noted the organization will not rush his return to the field.

In related roster news, wide receiver Puka Nacua is doubtful for Sunday night’s game against the Denver Broncos due to a groin injury. Although the Rams have not ruled out surgery for Nacua if his condition fails to improve, team sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that he could return as early as Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The organization currently views Nacua's lack of explosiveness as a short-term issue that does not yet require surgical intervention.
