Nashville SC (22-3-8) tied the MLS single-season record of 74 points following a 3-2 comeback victory against the New York Red Bulls at Geodis Park on Sunday. Sam Surridge secured the win with a header in the 91st minute off Cristian Espinoza’s 15th assist of the season. The result moved B.J. Callaghan’s side to a 15-0-2 home record, marking the second time in club history the team finished a season unbeaten at home.
The Red Bulls established a 2-0 lead in the first half. Julian Hall opened the scoring in the 34th minute, assisted by Adri Mehmeti and Sekou Kone, after Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake saved a 19th-minute penalty by Cade Cowell. Rafael Mosquera doubled the advantage in the 40th minute, scoring his first MLS goal just one minute after entering the match as a substitute. Cowell and Devin Padelford provided the assists on the play.
Nashville reduced the deficit in the 45th minute through a Tim Parker own goal. The hosts equalized in the 81st minute when New York defender Julian Bazan also credited with an own goal. Nashville finished the match with seven shots on target against New York goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, while Schwake recorded two saves for the home side.
With one match remaining, Nashville has equaled the 74-point mark set by Inter Miami in 2024 and established a new league record with 44 points earned at home. The club received the Supporters' Shield following the match and will attempt to break the points record on Decision Day, Nov. 7, against Cincinnati. The Red Bulls (11-16-6) saw their playoff push end with the loss, which simultaneously clinched a postseason berth for the Columbus Crew.
