The NHL schedule for Monday, October 5, 2026, features four games including a matchup between the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars.

Four NHL games are scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026, headlined by the San Jose Sharks visiting the Dallas Stars at 8 p.m. ET. The Stars enter the contest with a five-year playoff streak, while the Sharks are seeking their first postseason appearance since 2019. In other action, the Tampa Bay Lightning host the Philadelphia Flyers at 7 p.m. ET at Benchmark International Arena. The Flyers are currently on a three-game losing streak, while the Lightning recently defeated the Capitals 3-1 behind two assists and an empty-net goal from Jake Guentzel.

Two Atlantic Division matchups begin at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The Ottawa Senators, who won three of four meetings against the Boston Bruins last season, travel to Boston following a season-opening victory over the Maple Leafs. Simultaneously, the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Winnipeg Jets. Evgeni Malkin leads Pittsburgh with two goals and two assists, while Kyle Connor leads Winnipeg with one goal and one assist. The Jets are managing a trade request from goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, while the Penguins are utilizing goaltenders Arturs Silovs and Sergei Murashov.

League-wide roster moves include the Florida Panthers placing captain Aleksander Barkov on injured reserve, though the injury is not expected to end his season. In Detroit, Dylan Larkin remains on IR while his trade request is still active. Pittsburgh forward Andrei Kuzmenko has switched to jersey No. 62 to honor his father, who recently died in a bear attack. Additionally, Igor Shesterkin became the first goaltender in New York Rangers history to score a goal during a 4-2 win over the Utah Mammoth.
