Tennis legend Rafa Nadal confirmed on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, that he has accepted an offer to become a member of the Real Madrid board of directors. The 40-year-old, who retired from professional tennis in 2024 with 22 major titles and 14 French Open trophies, was invited to the position by club President Florentino Pérez. Nadal has maintained an official connection with the club since March 2017, when he was named an honorary member.
The appointment is not yet final, as the Real Madrid General Assembly must ratify Nadal’s addition to the board during a meeting scheduled for November 21. In a statement released on Wednesday, the club cited Nadal’s competitiveness and respect for rivals as values that align with the organization's identity.
Nadal expressed his enthusiasm for the role on Instagram, sharing a childhood photo in a Madrid kit while stating his intent to contribute to the club's future. His sporting resume includes 36 Masters titles and two Olympic gold medals alongside his record-breaking success at Roland Garros.
