Head coach Sean McVay expressed hope that Puka Nacua will play in Week 3, though the receiver is dealing with groin soreness.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay stated he is uncertain if wide receiver Puka Nacua will be available for the Week 3 matchup against the Denver Broncos. While McVay expressed hope that the receiver will play, he noted that the team will err on the side of caution regarding soft tissue injuries for skill players. Nacua was inactive for the Rams' 28-6 victory over the New York Giants on Monday night, despite participating in pregame warmups.
The injury was first noted on Friday's report as a hip issue, but McVay clarified on Saturday that Nacua is experiencing soreness in his groin. This current ailment is reportedly unrelated to the psoas injury that sidelined the receiver during training camp. Nacua did not participate in Saturday's practice session due to the discomfort.
In the Rams' season opener, Nacua recorded five receptions for 74 yards on nine targets. Sarah Barshop of ESPN reports that the team will continue to monitor his status leading up to the game in Denver, with McVay indicating the offense is prepared to move forward if the receiver is not ready to compete.
