Spain Secure 3-2 Comeback Victory Over England at Wembley

Spain punished a 54th-minute Harry Kane penalty miss to secure a 3-2 win in Thomas Tuchel's first Nations League match back in the top tier.

Spain extended their unbeaten streak to 39 matches with a 3-2 victory over England at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the second minute after a Marc Guéhi error, striking the ball off the inside of the far post. England responded in the 36th minute when Anthony Gordon scored a low 20-yard equalizer following a Jude Bellingham pass. The hosts took a 2-1 lead in the 40th minute as Harry Kane met a Nico O'Reilly cross with a header that Marc Cucurella deflected into his own net.

England missed a significant opportunity to extend their lead in the 54th minute. After Davide Massa awarded a penalty for a Rodri foul on Bellingham, Kane slipped during his run-up, striking the ball against his standing foot and onto the crossbar. Spain capitalized on the reprieve, drawing level through substitute Álex Baena, who scored from 20 yards after Dani Olmo intercepted a pass from O'Reilly.

Mikel Oyarzabal secured the win for the world champions in the 74th minute, lifting the ball over goalkeeper James Trafford following an assist from Baena. Trafford, who was selected over Jordan Pickford, had earlier denied Ferran Torres after the forward had a goal ruled out for offside. Despite late pressure and a stoppage-time strike from Bellingham that was saved by Unai Simon, Thomas Tuchel’s side failed to find a third goal.
