Veteran forward Taylor Hall left Tuesday's game against Washington with an upper-body injury, while Andrei Svechnikov scored twice to lead Carolina to a 4-2 victory.

The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Washington Capitals 4-2 on Tuesday night at Lenovo Center, but lost veteran forward Taylor Hall to an upper-body injury during the contest. Andrei Svechnikov led the Hurricanes with two goals, including the game-winner with 6:04 remaining in the third period. Eric Robinson and Mark Jankowski also provided goals for Carolina, while goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 20 shots to improve his season record to 4-0-0. The victory marks the sixth consecutive win for the Hurricanes.

Taylor Hall, 34, did not return to the game after sustaining the injury. Coach Rod Brind'Amour stated he had no official update on the forward's status but noted the situation "doesn't look good." Hall has recorded three goals and five points so far this season. This injury follows the news that Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal will miss one to two months due to a torn calf muscle suffered during pregame warmups on Sunday.

Washington's scoring came from Boone Jenner and Justin Holl, with Ryan Leonard contributing two assists. Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson made 31 saves in the loss. Carolina played the game short-handed as they continue to navigate the absence of Staal, who was the playoff MVP during their recent Stanley Cup championship run.
