Cesc Fabregas led Como to a 4-1 victory against RB Leipzig in the club's first-ever Champions League appearance on Thursday.

Como secured a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Thursday in the club’s first-ever European competition appearance. Midfielder Martin Baturina opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed by goals from Anastasios Douvikas and Assane Diao to establish a 3-0 lead before the hour mark. Máximo Perrone added a fourth goal just before full-time to finalize the rout for the Italian side, which qualified for the tournament after finishing fourth in Serie A last season.

Nico Paz, on loan from Real Madrid, facilitated the offensive pressure by releasing Douvikas down the right flank to set up a scoring opportunity. The Greek center forward subsequently delivered a deflected cross that Paz recovered to guide into the bottom left corner. According to ESPN, coach Cesc Fabregas implemented a high-pressing system that allowed Baturina freedom in the midfield to drive the attack.

The match was played before a reduced capacity of approximately 10,000 spectators due to stadium modifications required for the competition. In a gesture of respect, Como President Mirwan Suwarso and club directors gave up their own seats to allow supporters born in 1950 or earlier to attend the sold-out fixture. Baturina, named man-of-the-match, noted that the team intends to maintain this momentum as they face different tactical styles throughout the Champions League group stage.
