Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel is expected to miss at least four weeks after re-injuring his left hamstring just six minutes into his season debut.
Charlotte Hornets second-year guard Kon Knueppel will be sidelined for at least four weeks before a medical reevaluation following a left hamstring strain, the team announced Sunday. The injury occurred with 6:21 remaining in the first quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Knueppel, who was making his season debut, aggravated the muscle while dribbling up the court and exited the game after six minutes of play.
This latest setback involves the same hamstring Knueppel injured during the offseason, a condition that previously forced him to miss the entire preseason and the first eight games of the regular season. Additionally, the Hornets announced that guard Dennis Schroder has also been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and faces a two-week reevaluation timeline.
Knueppel finished second in NBA Rookie of the Year voting last season and led the league in 3-pointers. His current absence coincides with a six-game losing streak for Charlotte. The guard originally appeared to favor his left leg after losing the ball out of bounds shortly before his departure from the Nets game.
