Pelicans, Saddiq Bey Agree to Three-Year, $55.5M Extension

New Orleans Pelicans forward Saddiq Bey has agreed to a three-year, $55.5 million extension after averaging a career-high 17.7 points per game.

New Orleans Pelicans forward Saddiq Bey has agreed to a three-year, $55.5 million contract extension that includes a trade kicker, according to his agents at Excel Sports Management. The fully guaranteed deal secures Bey through the 2029-30 season following a resurgent year where he averaged a career-high 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Bey played 72 games last season, earning 64 starts, after missing the entire 2024-25 campaign due to a torn ACL suffered while playing for the Atlanta Hawks.

During his first full season in New Orleans, Bey recorded three of his four highest-scoring career performances, highlighted by a 42-point game against the Utah Jazz on Feb. 26. He also posted 36 points against the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 23 and 34 points against the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 31. ESPN Research indicates Bey averaged 20 points per game and shot 40% from 3-point range following the All-Star break, while setting new personal bests in 2-point field goals and free throws made and attempted per game.

Originally a first-round pick by the Detroit Pistons in 2020, Bey holds career averages of 14.8 points and 5.3 rebounds across 364 total NBA games. The Pelicans are scheduled to begin their preseason on Oct. 6 against the Oklahoma City Thunder before hosting the Indiana Pacers for the regular-season opener on Oct. 21.
