Baltimore Ravens rookie guard Olaivavega Ioane is expected to miss time after sustaining an MCL sprain during the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. The 14th overall pick in this year's draft moved back to right guard for the matchup before the knee injury forced him out of the game. Emery Jones Jr. played the final three quarters in his absence.
According to NFL Network, the injury is considered a short-term issue. However, the 4-3 Ravens will now be forced to utilize their sixth different offensive line combination of the season when they face the 5-1 Buffalo Bills this Sunday. Ioane had previously started three games at center after the team's top three players at that position were placed on injured reserve.
Heading into the Week 8 matchup against Buffalo, only two Baltimore offensive linemen have started every game this year: left guard John Simpson and right tackle Roger Rosengarten. Ioane had been a key contributor to the unit, serving as a versatile starter at both guard and center during the first seven weeks of the season.
