Solheim Cup Begins with Korda and Corpuz Facing Hull and Woad in Opening Foursomes

Top-ranked Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz will lead the U.S. team against Europe's Charley Hull and Lottie Woad at 7:40 a.m. local time on Friday.

The 20th edition of the Solheim Cup begins Friday at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, headlined by an opening foursomes match at 7:40 a.m. local time. Top-ranked American Nelly Korda will pair with Allisen Corpuz to face Europe’s highest-ranked players, Charley Hull and Lottie Woad. An estimated 3,000 spectators are expected at the first tee grandstand for the start of the three-day competition.

U.S. captain Angela Stanford has assigned 35-year-old rookie Lindy Duncan to Match 3 alongside Andrea Lee. The American roster also includes Angel Yin, who has competed in only one event over the last 10 weeks due to a stomach issue. Both the U.S. and European squads feature four players currently ranked within the world’s top 30.

The United States enters the tournament seeking its first road victory since 2015. The Americans currently hold a 15½-12½ lead from the previous meeting in Virginia, extending their all-time series advantage to 11-7-1 since the event's inception in 1990. European captain Anna Nordqvist, leading a team representing seven different nations, will see Hull compete in her eighth consecutive Solheim Cup appearance.
