U.S. and Europe Tied 2-2 Following Opening Foursomes at Solheim Cup

Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz secured a record fifth consecutive partnership victory as the U.S. split the opening session 2-2 with Europe.

Team USA and Team Europe are tied 2-2 following the opening foursomes session at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands on Friday. Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz led the American effort with a 4-and-3 victory over Charley Hull and Lottie Woad. This result marked a record-setting fifth consecutive Solheim Cup win for the Korda-Corpuz partnership. The Americans briefly held a 2-0 lead after Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin defeated Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Alison Lee, reaching the 14-point threshold required to reclaim the trophy.

Europe responded by winning the final two matches of the morning. Swedes Maja Stark and Linn Grant secured a 3-and-2 win against Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho after leading by four holes through the first seven. In the session's only match to reach the 18th hole, Esther Henseleit and Leona Maguire defeated Andrea Lee and Lindy Duncan 1 up. Maguire’s victory improved her career record to 9-3-1, the highest win percentage for any European player with at least five appearances.

Rain began to fall during the second match as the competition moved toward the afternoon four-balls, scheduled for 1:05 p.m. local time (1105 GMT). Korda’s individual record now stands at 11-5-1. Despite an early deficit when Woad made a 15-foot birdie on the first hole, Korda and Corpuz lost only one additional hole during their match. The United States currently maintains an 11-7-1 lead in the all-time series history.
