Lamine Yamal scored two goals and Raphinha added two more as Barcelona returned to the top of LaLiga with a 6-1 victory against Alavés.
Barcelona defeated Alavés 6-1 at Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday to reclaim the top spot in LaLiga. Lamine Yamal scored twice, including a finish from the edge of the box to make it 4-0 by half time and a dinked second-half effort. Raphinha opened the scoring early and added his 17th goal of the season later in the first half. Fermín López scored in the 23rd minute, while Anthony Gordon provided the sixth goal before a late consolation from Alavés striker Mariano Díaz.
The victory marked Hansi Flick’s 100th win since taking over as manager in 2024. Flick utilized a makeshift defense due to injuries to Xavi Espart, Andreas Christensen, Jules Koundé, and Eric García. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong started at centre-back, while 20-year-old midfielder Brian Fariñas made his full debut at right-back. The result ended a two-game losing streak for Barça following defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Yamal, who has started all 18 matches for club and country this season, was substituted in the 70th minute. Flick noted that having a four-goal lead by the interval allowed for the teenager to be rested for the final 20 minutes. Barcelona now prepares to host Aston Villa in the Champions League on Tuesday before a league fixture against Atlético Madrid next weekend.
