Alexander Zverev secured Germany’s spot in the Davis Cup Final 8 on Sunday by defeating Dino Prizmic 6-2, 6-4. The world number two required only 77 minutes to complete the victory on the indoor hardcourts in Halle, allowing Prizmic zero break-point opportunities. This result gave Germany an insurmountable 3-1 lead in their tie against Croatia.

Earlier in the day, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz earned a 7-5, 6-2 doubles win over Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic to set up Zverev’s clinching match. Germany now moves on to the knockout stage scheduled for November in Bologna, Italy.

Great Britain also qualified for the quarterfinals for the first time since 2023 following a 3-0 sweep of Ecuador. The advancement was finalized when Henry Patten and Neal Skupski beat Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo 6-3, 6-4 in doubles play.

Germany and Britain join a Final 8 field that already includes three-time defending champion Italy, Canada, Czechia, South Korea, and Austria. According to ESPN, Chile and Spain were competing for the final remaining tournament berth on Sunday.
